This blog contains my experiences, feelings, contemplations, etc… when I started using or trying to use GNU+Linux on a new laptop.  I don’t see it as a manual for other new GNU/Linux users, but I guess it can be inspiring and suggest small solutions for others.

The laptop is an Acer Aspire 3682WXMi. I paid 597 euros for it in on February 7th, 2007. This will probably look ridiculous to you if you’re reading this in the year 2015 (but then, what the heck are you reading this blog for in the year 2015??)

It came with an Intel Celeron M processor 420 (1,6Ghz, 533 MHz FSB, 1Mb L2 cache), a Mobile Intel 940 GML Express Chipset, 80 Gb HDD, a DVD-super Multi Double Layer drive, 1 GB DDR2, wireless LAN and Windows XP Media Center Edition and built-in Orbicam. And also a cardboard box, white plastic padding, a user guide and all the other usual stuff you find in those boxes.

And me, the buyer? I’m Roland / 32 / M / Belgium.
